Vinyl Wall Art Is The Next Big Thing In Home Design
A year or two ago, my wife tried to convince me to get a vinyl wall decal for our family room. I thought she was crazy; what the hell was a vinyl wall decal? In fact, she was just a year or two ahead of the trend.
Vinyl wall art is gaining popularity and I think it will hit REAL big in the U.S., and other countries, quite soon.
Single Stone Studios has a good blog on the subject, and here is their Etsy page. If you need more, TrendHunter posts 28 examples of vinyl wall art hitting the news.
In part 2 of 4 of my interview with Neal Voron, I said that you can combine trends and this is one of those instances. Take vinyl wall art and combine it with the new retro: the 1980’s. Since Generation X are now the prime consumers, the 1980’s are going to stick around for a while.
People my age are somewhat stuck in the 1980’s. We love us some Transformers or Star Wars, or classic Nintendo Entertainment System. Oh NES, how many hours of my life did you take?
Vinyl Wall Art + ’80s Retro = Mario wall stickers!
You know you want them.
So what is next? Smurfs? Lichtenstein? Andy Warhol? Anything Nickelodeon?
How about making a room look like a scene from The Goonies, Back To The Future, or Ghostbusters?
Back to the task at hand. Vinyl wall art is one of the next big things in home design. They are generally inexpensive, creative and removable! You can buy them from commercial websites or crafter websites. Or you can build your own with these instructions!
Home design is a strong niche, with many subniches (yes this .com is registered, I checked). This one especially so because it is easily shippable, unlike furniture, making it ideal for an e-commerce mini-site.

Scott,
Funny you said that “Vinyl Wall Art Is The Next Big Thing In Home Design…”.
We make vinyl decor based on sayings or quotes. We started a few years ago and thought we were going nowhere, I was just like you, didn’t believe anyone would be interested in that. But, boy, was I ever wrong!!! Maybe your wife will be interested in our vinyl decor too. Tell her to check us out.
We would love to hear what she thinks, please check out our site: http://www.inspirationswallart.com/

***EDIT***
Thanks for stopping by, Eric. Good job sticking through hard times, looks like it’s paying, or about to pay, off. To this day “vinyl wall art” or some variance is my number one search term- on a site that has nothing to do with it! I get 10-20 hits a day from organic traffic looking for it. I feel that’s solid proof that there is demand, but not enough is out there to supply the demand.
With what you specialize in, text, would be huge for the religious consumer. I wonder, have you had anyone “create” any bible quotes or excerpts? I really do think that this medium, with it’s inexpensive prices and ease of removal, is set to get bigger and bigger.
I’ll pass the site along to my wife, thanks!

Scott,
Thanks. We actually have a range based on religious quotes. But so far, we have a lot more people ordering the nursery vinyls (such as the Butterfly Kiss and a lady bug hug… I-004 on http://www.inspirationswallart.com/products/index.php?cPath=22)
It’s one of our best selling items.
Oh, speak of passing the site along, we are doing a free monthly draw contest right now. If you don’t mind passing this goody to your and your wife’s friends, that will be awesome. We think a lot of people still are not aware of this product and we hope giving some away will be a good way of spreading the word. Everybody loves free stuff
Thanks,
Eric
