TrendDomaining.com Contest To Celebrate 3 Months

August 17, 2008 · by Scott

TrendDomaining.comSo I wake up this morning, exactly 3 months to the day since I started this blog, and see a few hits coming in from Mark at DotSauce.  Thanks Mark!

Though this blog has been around for 3 months, 60 posts later I feel it’s not getting out to everyone that may be interested in it.  The unique hits aren’t impressive by any means (especially after reading certain domaining blogger’s numbers, this blog is minuscule).  What is impressive is that when someone visits TrendDomaining.com they stick around, view multiple pages and ultimately return.  So that tells me that I need to get the word out more.  More on this later.

The feedback has been excellent.  Neal Voron of Fractional Domaining posted a full review of TrendDomaining.com.  This came after his 4-part interview with me.  Please check it out if you haven’t already done so.

Here is what people have been saying about TrendDomaining.com:

I have found that Scott’s blog postings are always eye-opening and interesting to read.  His fresh and unique content truly sets him apart from many other domain industry bloggers!” - Neal Voron - Fractional Domaining

“Inspiring and informative blog” - Mark Fulton - DotSauce

“Trend Domaining features highly recommended editorials” - Mark Fulton - DotSauce

“You’re always at the top of your game… thanks for the thoughtful posts” - Jamie Parks - Domainer Developer

“Yet again very inspiring, that’s why your on my blogroll, your blog deserves attention; you obviously put a lot of thought and time in.” - Marcus Mercer - DomainingUK

“I get a lot of insight out of your blog and really enjoy reading your views.” - Kelly Lieberman - IBuyThe.com

Thanks for the compliments guys! If anyone has any suggestions or criticism, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or email.

Back to me finding ways to get the word out, I’m holding a small contest:

TrendDomaining.com Contest

TrendDomaining.com needs a catchphrase; a little motto that I can put on the header, or in advertising.  Only a couple of rules to follow:

  • Obviously, the motto needs to help sell what I’m blogging about.
  • As far as length goes, I’m leaning towards short (under 6 words) but if a longer one sounds great then I’ll absolutely run with it.
  • You can submit as many as you’d like.
  • The winner will be chosen by me one week from today: August 24th.  I’ll post the winner here on my blog, contact them via email (if you leave one) and PM them if they found this through a messageboard)
  • The prize: $50 USD winner take all.  I will transfer via Paypal only.
  • You can submit your entries by commenting to this post, or send an email to scott at trendomaining dot com.

I know this won’t pay many bills, but all I want is a motto.

And if you have a blog/site and enjoy reading TrendDomaining.com, then all I can ask for is a little love pointing towards this contest/post. Thanks!

    nice blog !

    you may consider :

‘Setting the trend for the domains to come’

whatever you choose , good luck with the blog :)

    Has things come in mind.

I just realize I am swapping your blog most of the time. And you know what, I discovered in fact of of the main reason is due to the lack of graphics!
I guess I am not alone.
One has limited time, is busy and when one one see a lot of text: Ouch! It look likes it will cost a lot to read the post. At the inverse an appealing graphic related to the theme of the post is like an invitation to read.
You will find this stupid but graphics, colors, … was the main reason I prefered DNF versus NP when I discovered the domaining.

Another thing I realize (and I see the click stats in Domaining.com) is that blog centered around a person are really much more popular. I am allways astonished how some posts with “no/low interest” are geting really much more clicks then much more interesting posts from less popular bloggers. A signature is important, the reader must feel there is a PERSON behind. Sign your post so people remember WHO you are (except I look at my mail, I will admit today I don’t remember who is behind this blog … sorry to be honnest). This will establish a begining of relationship with the reader that should start commenting your posts.

    ***EDIT***

Appreciate the feedback, Francois. I’m beginning to think that a minimum of one image per post is necessary as you’re not the first to tell me about the lack of images.

I totally buy into the fact that people want to see a name and/or face attached to a blog. It looks like that may be something I need to work on to make my blog more approachable. Good advice!

    Thanks a ton!

    -Scott

The Next Generation of Generic Domains!

    Scott,
I love your blog because I believe that not all the best domains are already taken! I believe that those who got in early, 5-10 years ago, can now be US if we keep our eyes out!

Plus, we won’t have to wait 5-10 years to see the $$$$. The domains that will sell for huge bucks tomorrow are the emerging trends today and these trends are moving at the Speed of Virtual!!

    As an example, I registered: MotionSensitiveTouchScreen.com, MotionSensitiveTouch.com
    MotionSensitiveVideo.com
at the end of May 2008 and have already had offers on them!

I have tons of examples in various niches that might have made no sense to anyone 1-5 years ago, that are already paying off for me in just a short time.

My Dad always told me in sports keep your eye on the ball, but in business, keep your eye where you want the ball to go!!

    ***EDIT***

Good catch on the motion sensitive trend. I’ve noticed a few of my clients have gone to touch screens this year, even though their business had absolutely no call for it. That’s a good sign.

Glad to see trendwatching is (or will be!) paying off for you!

    Thanks for the comments!

    hey happy 3 months :)

    my choice is :

    TrendDomaining.com
    “Up to Date Domain research”

    TrendDomaining.com
“We search it, you like it, you get it”

    TrendDomaining.com
    “Research new age Domains”

  8. Jamie Parks on August 19th, 2008 2:18 pm

A catch phrase is important but not something that you need to feel forever bound to. When I was first coming up with mine I actually changed it a few times and was even considering rotating it out monthly.

My advice is to not lock yourself in and be open to change as your niche evolves. After all, trends are all about changes.

    A few more to consider:

    TrendDomaining.com
    “Pioneering The Domain Naming Business”

    TrendDomaining.com
“Turning Headlines into Domain Names since 2008″

    TrendDoamining.com
    “News & New Domain Opportunities”

    TrendDomaining.com
    “Domains are everywhere”

    TrendDomaining.com
    “Domain Discovery News”

    TrendDomaining.com
    “Daily Domain Discovery”

    TrendDomaining.com
“Leaving other domainers in the dust”

    TrendDomaining.com
    “Stay ahead of the pack”

    TrendDomaining.com
“Make some real money with domain names”

    TrendDomaining.com
    “Get it before it’s gone”
