Tools
There are many tools out there to assist you in building your domaining empire. This is a list of tools that I have personally used and find valuable.
Freshdrop.net - Easily the best searching tool for TDNAM. Though TDNAM search is free, it also offers other searches for a fee. Read my tutorials on how to use Freshdrop.net to find domain names part 1: Trends and part 2: Geodomains.
PremiumDrops.com - Pay site for drop lists. Of all the drop lists I’ve used, this one is my favorite.
Build A Niche Store - BANS is an eBay affiliate site builder that does a lot of the work for you. Simply upload it to your hosting provider and enter in the eBay categories you want it to display. The one downfall is the uninspiring generic look and complete lack of templates. If you want your site to look good, it’s completely up to you.
Google Keyword Tool - Type in a keyword, and this tool will show you how many people search it and what other words they use in combination with it. Will also show you how many are competing for the advertising on the word.
Domain Research Tool - The best analyzing tool around. It’s not cheap, but it’s the best investment any serious domainer will make.
Domain Name Analyzer - A bulk whois tool that gets the job done. It doesn’t have anywhere near the features as the DRT, but it’s free and private.
NameBio.com - One of the best ways to find out how much a domain is worth is to research previous sales. NameBio is the best site for doing that.
DNCleaner.com - Copy a large amount of text from a webpage and paste it into this tool. DNCleaner will remove all the garbage and pluck out all the domain names. You can then copy the list and paste it into your favorite bulk analyzing tool.
City Data - Has statistics of most of the cities in the US, including population, household income, racial diversity, major industries, climate and many many more. An indispensables tool for geodomainers.
Trend Hunter - Articles pointing to current trends. I particularly use the Netbuzz page, which is like an RSS aggregator for every trend website you read, such as Digg, Reddit, PSFK, Cool Hunting, BoingBoing, Gizmodo and many others.
Google Trends - Lists the top words/phrases being typed in at Google. It excludes generic searches like weather and restaurants which leaves us a list of more precise terms and immediate trends.
