Japanese Trend Could Boost Clothing Market, Affiliates
Virtual makeovers and fitting rooms are popular in Japan, and should be arriving in America soon. The idea is to upload a picture of your body and/or face, then drag and drop styles (hair, makeup or clothing) onto you. The one problem clothing has with online sales is the sizing. Who wants to spend that kind of money on something that may not even fit on you? The internet can’t replace a real fitting room, but this should give a huge boost to online clothing sales and affiliates.
Avielon licenses out a program called Awesaba (Japanese) to online merchants, who then use it as a service on their site to lure customers. Awesaba lets people upload what amounts to a virtual mannequin of themselves, allowing customers to try on clothes and see how they would look in them.
HairStyle (Japanese) allows users to upload a picture of their face, and then try on difference hairstyles to see what they would like.
How does this affect you as a domainer? Clothing is already a huge market on the net, including affiliates. If, or when, this trend hits America, you can be waiting for it with the domain names, and perhaps even the affiliate sites. As for the virtual makeovers… teenagers have always been a goldmine, especially teenage girls.
