Another Mini-site Niche: Personal Solar Power

It’s not a secret that solar power is gaining popularity as an alternative power source. With solar panel prices expected to plummet, a huge surge in this trend is a guarantee. The opening of the worlds biggest solar farm in Portugal is just one of many solar-related stories hitting mainstream media recently. That will eventually be trumped by this solar farm in California. Not impressive enough for you? How about a space solar array?

Some companies are taking matters into their own hands and building their own solar power source, such as this winery in Napa Valley.

Masdar City, a name you will soon hear often, is investing $2 billion in it’s own solar power company so they can take advantage of the sun exposure on their future ground-breaking site.

Like I said, this isn’t shocking to anyone. Everybody has been expecting solar power to eventually hit it’s stride. And while all these enormous farms/towers are getting the publicity, the personal solar-related items are under the radar.

Solar energy isn’t just for governments, giant corporations and futuristic cities in Abu Dhabi. Solar energy has gone personal. There are many affordable personal solar products on the market, such as these bags or this briefcase. It may only be 13W, but they always start small.

There are mods to convert your lawn mower to solar power. Quite a few Wi-fi’s are available. Speedboats, hearing aids, golf bags, pool floats and cleaners. Check out the loads and loads of solar powered personal items.

Like many of the other trends you can read about on my blog, this trend would work well on a mini-site with some amazon.com affiliate items.
